Hair transplantation is the process of individually extracting healthy hair follicles from the donor area (the back of the neck and behind the ears, which are genetically programmed not to shed) using microscopic techniques and transferring them to bald or thinning areas (the recipient area). This procedure is currently the only known permanent and natural solution for individuals experiencing baldness and hair thinning.

Organic Hair Transplantation: This exclusive technique involves injecting a stem cell-enriched solution, prepared from the patient’s own fat tissue, into the scalp before the transplant. Sapphire FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction): This method involves opening the channels (sockets) with special sapphire tips, allowing for very fast healing and enabling dense implantation.

Hair Transplant Process – Step by Step

Hair transplantation is a detailed procedure that requires millimeter precision and consists of several stages.
1. Consultation and Hairline Design: This is the most critical stage of the procedure. Your Estetik International specialist designs the most natural front hairline suitable for your facial features, age, and forehead structure. The number of grafts to be taken and the implantation plan are finalized at this stage.
2. Local Anesthesia and Preparation: The donor and recipient areas are numbed using special needle-free or micro-needle devices. This allows the patient to remain pain-free throughout the procedure and read a book or watch television.
3. Collection of Grafts (Roots): Hair roots are collected one by one from the donor area at the back of the head using a device called a micromotor, without causing any damage. The collected roots are kept in special solutions to preserve their viability and are separated into single, double, and triple roots.
4. Opening the Channels (for Sapphire FUE): Micro-channels, where the collected roots will be placed, are opened in the area to be transplanted using sapphire tips, which are made of precious metal. Sapphire tips minimize tissue trauma and allow for dense transplantation. (In the DHI method, this stage is combined with transplantation).
5. Implantation: The prepared grafts are individually placed, paying attention to the natural direction and angle of hair growth (usually 40-45 degrees). Single grafts are used in the front hairline to ensure a natural look.
6. Dressing and PRP: After the procedure, the donor area is covered with a dressing. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy is usually administered at the end of the procedure to accelerate healing and nourish the roots.

Recovery Process

The recovery process after hair transplantation is a step-by-step period with phases such as “Shock Loss.” Understanding this process and being patient is crucial for a successful outcome.
First 3 Days (Rest): Mild swelling (edema) may occur around the nose and eyes after the procedure; this is normal and temporary. For the first 3 days, it is recommended that you do not bend your head forward and that you lie on your back in a slightly upright position. The bandage on the donor area is removed after 1-2 days.
First 10 Days (Scaling): Small, dot-like scabs form in the treated area. These scabs are gently washed daily using the special washing technique (lotion and shampoo) that will be taught to you. By the end of the 10th day, the scabs should have completely fallen off, leaving a clean appearance.
1 - 3 Months (Shock Shedding): This phase may worry patients, but it is the most natural part of the process. The transplanted hair strands break off and shed as the roots take hold. The roots remain alive under the skin and enter a resting phase to produce new, strong hair.
3 - 6 Months (New Growth): The shock loss ends and permanent hair begins to grow back with fine strands. With each passing month, the hair thickens and becomes denser.
12 - 18 Months (Final Result): Hair reaches its final thickness and density. Since blood circulation in the crown area (vertex) is slower, the final result may take up to 18 months.

Risks and Complications

Hair transplantation is an extremely safe procedure performed under local anesthesia and classified as “microsurgery.” When performed by skilled professionals in a sterile clinical environment, the risk of complications is negligible.
Mild Swelling and Bruising: After the procedure, mild swelling may occur on the forehead and around the eyes due to the effects of gravity. This condition is temporary and can be completely overcome within a few days by drinking plenty of water and applying ice.
Itching: Itching in the donor and recipient areas during the healing process is a sign that the tissue is healing. This sensation can be easily soothed with special sprays and lotions.

Will the transplanted hair fall out?
No, the transplanted hair is taken from the back of the head (the safe donor area), which is genetically programmed not to fall out. Therefore, the transplanted hair is permanent and does not fall out.
How many grafts (hair follicles) can be transplanted?
This number depends entirely on the density and quality of your donor area. An average of 3,000 to 5,000 grafts can be harvested in a single session. Our Estetik International surgeons aim to harvest the optimal number of grafts without over-harvesting the donor area, ensuring a natural appearance.
What is the difference between DHI and FUE?
In the FUE method, channels are first opened, then the roots are placed. In the DHI method, channel opening and placement are performed simultaneously using the “Choi Pen” pen. DHI is generally preferred for denser transplantation and transplantation without shaving, while FUE is faster for high graft numbers.
When can I wear a hat after hair transplantation?
To prevent transplanted roots from shifting and to allow them to breathe, wearing a hat is not recommended for the first 10 days. After the 10th day, wide, sports hats that do not constrict the area can be worn.
Is hair transplantation performed on women?
Yes, women can also get hair transplants. Especially with the DHI method, hair transplants can be successfully performed without shaving the entire head, by simply opening a small window in the donor area and transplanting hair into the gaps.
How long does hair transplantation take?
The duration of the procedure varies depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted, but it typically takes between 6 and 8 hours. During this time, breaks are taken for meals and other needs.
What is shock loss, and does everyone experience it?
This is the temporary shedding of transplanted hair approximately one month after the procedure. This is an expected, physiological process and occurs in 90% of patients. The roots of the shed hair remain inside and begin to grow permanently starting from the third month.
Do you also perform beard or eyebrow transplants?
Yes, beard, mustache, and eyebrow transplants are also performed using the FUE or DHI method, following the same principles as hair transplantation. The results in these areas are also permanent and natural.
How should I lie down after surgery?
For the first 3-4 days, it is recommended that you lie on your back at a 45-degree angle (using two pillows) to reduce swelling and protect the incision site from friction. The neck pillow provided will make this process more comfortable.
